It has been some time since the not-for-profit organisation has had a Patron.
Athletics NT Executive Officer, Leanne Chin, said His Honour is a keen runner and avid promotor of health through his former work as the Chief Health Officer.
“I couldn’t think of a better advocate to become our first Patron,” she said.
“His Honour has very generously agreed to not only become the Patron of the organisation but also Patron of Australia’s longest running fun run – the NT City2Surf.
“2023 is the 50thedition of the iconic event and we wanted to make it bigger and better. The Administrator agreeing to become the Patron has certainly elevated it.
“We are absolutely over the moon.”
His Honour is equally excited about establishing links with the NT’s premier athletics organisation.
“It is my great pleasure to accept Patronage of Athletics NT and of The NT City2Surf event,” he said.
“I have participated in the NT City2Surf a number of times. It is a wonderful community event that brings, families, friends and individuals together to share in the health and wellbeing benefits that come with enjoying some exercise in our beautiful tropical city.”
